As 2CYR is growing so are the needs for those who are willing to serve on a more long-term basis.
2CYR is looking for those who are called by God to serve in this lane of ministry for a three to six month period, based on YOUR availability. We are open to tailoring an intern program that will fit your needs and schedule. If accepted into the Internship Program, 2CYR will be committed to invest in you; teach, empower, challenge, and grow leadership skills and abilities to those who are willing to let God work through them into the lives of youth and their families.
Interns will have a vast array of responsibilities from admin work, managing social media, landscaping and grounds care, to working with the horses and caring for their needs, and planning and facilitating summer camps. A typical day would include daily devotions, attending weekly horse/mentor training sessions, grounds care, cleaning stalls or paddocks, horse supplements with grain, working the horses out, assist with planning and facilitating summer camps, and addressing whatever needs of the ranch arise.
But the unique role of an intern is scheduling and leading Equine Assisted Mentorship Sessions with youth throughout the week, establishing connections with them and their families and being a representative of 2CYR and more importantly, planting seeds of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Acts 20:24 (KJV): But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.
Intern Qualifications
18 years of age or older.
Serve 2CYR for a minimum of 3 to 6 months based on YOUR availability.
Commit to serving at the Ranch through a schedule tailored to fit your needs. Any special events scheduled outside of these days will be coordinated upon arrival.
The intern position is an unpaid, volunteer position. Interns will need to provide for his or her personal transportation, housing, and food. After being invited to join, 2CYR may be able to share a list of housing possibilities with local families that have been vetted by 2CYR and have expressed a desire to support 2CYR by housing interns.
- Personal relationship with Jesus, a willingness to be Spirit-led, and a desire to share the Gospel.
- Experience with horses is desired, but not required.
- Experience with youth in a mentor role is desired, but not required.
- Show proof of health insurance that complies with Affordable Health Care Act for the full duration of the internship period.
- Obtain CPR and First Aid Certification. If scheduling permits, 2CYR may schedule and pay for this certification.

- Participate in a phone or skype interview with 2CYR leadership team and board members.
- Provide a federal background check (US residents) or the equivalent (international residents). Note: If you are invited to join as an intern, 2CYR will provide the website link and costs for the background check. All background check reports need to be delivered to 2nd Chance Youth Ranch no later then two weeks prior to your desired arrival date
- Please note: The internship program is limited to a set amount of interns per season. Our prayer is always to bring us the right people at the right time, and to continually be in God's will. We ask that our applicants pray in everything they do, for God has directed our paths and is always preparing us for our next season.
